The Coalspire Union, a coalition of free cities built on innovation, egalitarian ideals, and underground steam networks, pioneered the development of Leviathan Engines—massive, walking war machines powered by superheated pressure cores and rare voltaic crystals. Fearing the destructive potential of these machines, the Union refused to export the designs. The Verdance Accord, a hierarchy of noble houses cloaked in decadence and alchemical refinement, viewed the refusal as a threat to the balance of global power. Backed by wealthy merchant dynasties and powered by biomechanical augmentation and air superiority, they launched a calculated assault to seize the Union’s knowledge by force.
