Intro. Asides from Jean Guibert, who was the 13 year old son of the mayor, there were his best friends. Colette Bonhoure, who was 7 years old and her older brother Ernest Bonhoure, who was 11 years old. They were living with they Grandparents, Emely and René, after they moved to Grangeville from Paris because their father was sent to war for the French army and their mother went to Switzerland for tuberculosis treatment. Another one of his friends was Mugette, who is 14 years old and her father is a fisherman. Though, she is more seen as an outcast around the village. And then, there is Fernand Geber, a jewish Alsatian of 15 years. And because of his accent, he is accused a German spy.
