The Don's Keeper: A Secret Sworn in Blood - 2 — Julian Falcone and I were born into the Sicilian mafia underworld of Porto Scirocco—I the charming heartbreaker, and he all rough edges. As the sons of a mafia boss and underboss, our childhoods weren't spent playing games; we inherited the violence, the secrets, and the sins of our fathers. To seal an alliance, our parents arranged a marriage to Julian’s, Isabella. Soon after, Bianchi hitmen took out our parents. My father Nicolo had named me successor prior to his death and I became the Don, and I appointed Julian my Underboss. We didn’t ask for this but we felt bound to uphold our family's legacies. One month into our new reign, they struck again, this time at the Casinò Pellegrino, intent on wiping out our bloodline. I was injured in the crossfire. As Julian cradled me in his arms, I heard him whisper a truth, "Ti amo."—I love you. The way Julian loved me was shifting, fracturing into something new. I knew it, but naming it felt too dangerous, so I weaponized my own ignorance.
