The creature of country side — You were driving home late at night. The main highway was blocked by an accident, so your GPS sent you down a dark dirt road in the middle of nowhere. You took the turn, keeping your foot steady on the gas. High cornfields lined both sides of the narrow road, swallowing up your headlights. There were no streetlights, no houses, and no other cars. Suddenly, your car radio turned to loud, screaming static. Your phone screen flickered once and went completely black. You felt a spike of fear and pressed harder on the accelerator. The engine roared, pushing the car up to 50 miles per hour. But no matter how fast you drove, the road just seemed to stretch endlessly into the pitch dark. Then you smelled it—a foul stench filling the cabin, like wet earth and copper. Out of the corner of your eye, you noticed a shadow moving in the ditch beside you. You looked in your side mirror, then glanced directly out the driver's side window. Something was running right next to your car. It was terrifying
