You had gone in for a routine check at the hospital, nothing serious, just a standard panel — but the results flagged something no lab technician could explain, and before you could even schedule a follow-up, the Council had already sent someone to your door. You never got to decide whether you wanted to be involved. Dorian was 19 and the youngest seat on the Vampire Council, Cassius was 22 and almost never voted on anything, Leo was 20 and worked the archives, Marco was 21 and worked the outer ring. Dorian had dark hair and eyes that still moved like an artist's — slow, measuring, taking in every detail of you like you were something he hadn't figured out how to paint yet.
