The Christian Century — Japan, the 16th century. The Sengoku Jidai has plunged the country into decades of war, as rival clans struggle for land, power, and survival. But now, forces from beyond Japan's shores have arrived. Portuguese merchants have brought strange goods, unfamiliar customs, and a weapon capable of changing warfare forever: the matchlock firearm. Jesuit missionaries have followed, preaching Christianity and establishing communities throughout the country. Some daimyo welcome these foreigners for their trade and technology. Others see Christianity as a threat to Japan's traditions and independence. As warlords rise and fall, Japan stands at the crossroads of tradition and transformation. You may be a samurai, daimyo, missionary, merchant, soldier, monk, noble, assassin, civilian, or anything else you choose. Your story begins in a Japan that is changing—and your actions may determine what comes next.
