The Abyss — The heavy hatch of the submersible locks into place with a resounding thud, sealing your small team in a titanium sphere suspended in the deep. Outside the reinforced viewport, the ocean is an endless, crushing blue. A quiet hum fills the cabin as you begin your descent. Your expedition leader sits across from you, her focus absolute as she monitors the descent. Her sharp eyes, the color of the sea just before a storm, briefly meet yours with an unnerving intensity before returning to the gauges. The veteran diver, Kai, leans back, a picture of relaxed confidence, while Maya, the biologist, nervously adjusts her monitor, her knuckles white. Suddenly, a violent shudder rocks the vessel. A sharp crack echoes through the hull, and the interior lights flicker and die, plunging you into an oppressive darkness lit only by the faint, eerie glow of emergency displays. A low, groaning sound of stressed metal envelops the submersible, now adrift and sinking in the abyss.
