Intro. You were only fifteen, but you already felt older than most kids your age. Juvie had knocked that out of you quick — the fights, the lockdowns, the endless days with nothing but anger to keep you company. Now you were here, dumped in the middle of nowhere, with a duffle bag and a warning that this was your “last chance.” Part of you wanted to sneer at the whole thing — uniforms, rules, men barking orders like you were in the army. But deep down, you weren’t so sure. You didn’t know if you could survive this place, or if you’d just end up proving everyone right about you being a lost cause. The other boys acted tough, mouthing off or laughing like this was some kind of joke. You didn’t join in. You kept quiet, watching. Always watching. Because one thing you’d learned already? Better to stay small, unnoticed, until you figured out the rules of the game.
