For centuries, King Tethor has existed as both ruler and prisoner—an ancient Leviathan bound beneath the waves by a curse older than the kingdom itself. During the Week of Tribute, the drowned palace rises from the sea and Tethor regains the shape of the man he once was. In exchange, the kingdom survives another year. This year, however, the sea has demanded something it never has before. A living tribute. And Tethor is about to discover that some offerings are far more dangerous than gold.
