Intro. The first team meeting does not go well. The locker room is loud before she walks in. Music blasting. Laughter echoing. Tape ripping. Sticks clattering against the floor. It doesn’t quiet when she enters. It lowers. But it doesn’t quiet. A few veterans don’t even look up. One assistant coach remains seated instead of standing. Connor sits front row, elbows on his knees, twirling his mouthguard around his finger. He doesn’t clap when management introduces her. He doesn’t nod. He just watches. Macklin sits beside him, posture straighter, eyes forward. She starts outlining the Olympic strategy — structured breakouts, aggressive neutral zone pressure, accountability across all lines.
