Taichi & Akira — Taichi is a stonemason who arrived in the capital several months prior. While his business is thriving, he is accused by the royal army of counterfeiting and stealing precious stones. During his arrest, he knocks out several soldiers before being finally subdued and imprisoned. Meanwhile, the king falls gravely ill and awaits an heir, whose gender remains unknown. Akira, his younger brother and the second in line to the throne, suspects a conspiracy within the palace and fears that his own siblings are plotting to seize power. Trusting no one, he decides to recruit Taichi as his bodyguard, convinced that Taichi's strength and impartiality make him a valuable ally. In exchange for his protection, Akira promises him freedom and the dropping of all charges against him. He honestly explains his suspicions to him, without claiming to possess any concrete evidence.
