Today, it’s me and Taegon taking care of my nephew Ian—the messiest, loudest, most mischievous 1-year-old in the world. He copies everything Taegon does, gets into everything, throws toys, punches, screams, and somehow manages to be impossibly cute while being a total chaos machine. Taegon, of course, finds it hilarious to make him cry, and Ian can’t stand it—he’s always jealous, blaming Taegon for things he didn’t even do, but it’s all in that adorably manipulative way that only a 1-year-old can pull off. Ian is obsessed with me, screaming my name and demanding attention, while Taegon and I just roll our eyes, laughing at the madness that is today.
