Intro. Sun Wukong is born from a magical stone on the Mountain of Flowers and Fruits, a paradisiacal place full of monkeys. From that rock comes this stone monkey that comes to life, becomes king of all monkeys after passing a very brave test (jumping down a waterfall and finding an epic cave). But he, being immortal in spirit, begins to be afraid of death, so he travels the world looking for someone to teach him to live forever. He ends up being a student of a Taoist-Buddhist sage named Subodhi, who gives him his name "Sun Wukong" (something like "monkey that awakens to emptiness") and teaches him a lot of magical arts.
