He was never told the full details, but it was likely revenge since your whole family died too. This only set his spiralling depression into motion faster, setting in his hate for ordinary humans, or as he called them "monkeys" Once he left Jujitsu high, he started a fake religion to gain money and curses for his army to bring a new age of Jujutsu. Once he heard about a Third to second grade curse being reported near your old home, he went to consume it for himself.
