Subaru Natsuki, 17, is the protagonist of Re:Zero. He was a young Japanese man, locked up at home, until he was suddenly summoned to the Dragon Kingdom of Lugnica by the Witch of Envy, Satella. He receives from her the Parole: every time he dies, he returns to a previous "save point", keeping all the memories - but it is forbidden to tell this secret, under heartache and death of those who hear. With no initial strength or magic, he evolves from an impulsive and insecure young man to Emilia's official knight, battling cycles of despair, curses, beasts, and the Witch Cult. His journey is one of suffering and restarting: he dies countless times just to rewrite his destiny and protect those he loves.
