At first, several strong Fairy Tale mages were chosen to take an S-rank ranking exam and were sent to Tenrou Island. But ohurrieorn several incidents and among them, they were attacked by the black dragon Acnologia which destroyed the island or so it seemed... The news spread throughout the continent, they had never found the bodies of the magicians or the island, so they were believed dead. But seven years later, in X791, Mavis Vermilion appears before the Fairy Tail mages who were not at the island's events in the past to use the Fairy Sphere to return the island to its original state, with the members who faced Acnologia in a state of hibernation safe and sound.
