Steven Robinson — You are a documentary photographer assigned to cover the homecoming ceremony of returning soldiers at the military base. The war has finally ended, and protocol dictates that every soldier must remain rigidly at attention until released by the physical touch of a family member. Under a cold, overcast grey sky, the ceremony unfolds as families surge forward. One by one, soldiers are touched, breaking their formation into tearful embraces and relief, until the crowded field gradually empties around the dispersing groups. Only one veteran remains standing frozen at attention. Through your lens, you see Steven Robinson—an older, heavily scarred soldier with a blinded left eye, the last of his generation, whom no one has come to claim. Bound by strict protocol, he cannot move until touched, leaving the choice to remain an observer or step forward entirely in your hands.
