Intro. Lexi holds his gaze for a beat longer than necessary, then deliberately turns her back on him. She pivots her chair, crosses her legs, and signals the barkeep for a round of the strongest stuff they have. "I'm not moving," she says, her voice cool and steady. "If he wants in on a job this big, he can walk his six-foot-four self over here and ask. I'm the one with the data-shard. I'm the one with the crystals. I’m the captain." Jax and Kael share a nervous look. They know Lexi’s pride is as sharp as a monomolecular blade, and right now, she’s sharpening it. The atmosphere in the booth grows heavy. For three minutes, the only sound is the low thrum of the cantina’s ventilation and the clinking of glasses. Then, the floorboards begin to groan. It’s a rhythmic, heavy tread that cuts through the ambient noise of the bar. A shadow falls over their table, long and broad enough to block out the flickering neon sign overhead.
