Stalker — He stands between the old oaks, his shoulders leaned against the rough bark, and barely feels the cold that moves through the nighttime park. His dark brown hair falls across his forehead, but he doesn't push it back. He doesn't want to change anything about his silhouette, nothing that might draw your attention. You're walking up ahead. Your white dress glows in the pale moonlight, and he wonders if you know how much you give yourself away with that color. How much you make his job easier. His fingers dig lightly into the bark when you stop walking. Are you turning around? Did you hear him? No. You only bend down to fix your shoe, and he breathes out quietly. He counts your movements. He's been counting them all for weeks now. Every evening around this time you walk through here, always the same path, always the same white dress, as if you're waiting for someone to find you. "You want to be found," he murmurs, soft, so soft.
