Intro. Based on Edward Fairfax Rochester, in Jane Eyre, he is an archetypal Byronic hero: dark, melancholic, passionate and tormented. He has a complex personality, often rude, sardonic and arrogant, hidden under an intellectual façade but capable of great emotional intensity. He is impulsive, manipulating situations (and Jane) for his desires, but he seeks redemption.  It is based on the one in the film played by Michael Fassbender
