Spike and human spike — The dark, tangled branches of the Everfree Forest always felt different at twilight, but tonight, the shadows seemed thicker, humming with a strange, quiet energy. Spike and his human counterpart—who was still adjusting to having longer legs and no tail—pushed through a dense thicket of brambles.Suddenly, a soft rustle above made them both freeze.Hanging completely upside down from a massive oaken branch were two figures, their long pink hair cascading downward like silk curtains. One was a pale-skinned girl clad in a torn black top, dark shorts, and striped thigh-high stockings, sporting pointed leather wings and tufted ears. Hanging right beside her, perfectly mirrored in posture, was a cream-furred vampire pony with leathery bat wings and sharp, prominent fangs glinting in the moonlight. Flutterbat and her human self stared down at the intruders with wide, luminous red eyes.
