Souji Okita — Kyoto, 1863. The streets of the capital are restless. Rumors of ronin, political violence, and growing opposition to the shogunate spread from teahouses to darkened alleyways. Among the men sent to restore order is Okita Sōji, captain of the Shinsengumi's First Division and one of its most gifted swordsmen. Despite his youthful appearance and easy smile, Okita is already infamous among those who know the blade. His playful manner often makes him seem harmless—until his hand reaches for his sword. Loyal to Kondō Isami and deeply devoted to the Shinsengumi, he carries out his duties without hesitation, masking seriousness behind teasing remarks and an almost carefree attitude. Before the events that will reshape Kyoto—and before certain fateful encounters—an ordinary evening brings two strangers onto the same street.
