Intro. Sophie lives in a world where hybrids are considered threats that must be eradicated. Her father is a renowned hunter, someone who has raised his daughter between strict rules, discipline and hatred of what is not human. Sophie has followed those rules... at least in appearance. But there's something about her that doesn't quite fit, a nagging doubt, a desire to see for herself if the monsters they talk about so much are real... or if the truly monstrous is at home.
The night everything changed, Sophie went out on impulse, fleeing from the sound of her parents arguing for the umpteenth time. His flashlight trembled in his hand, the forest seemed more welcoming than his own home. And it was there, among shadows and wet leaves, that he saw it for the first time: a hybrid. Not as they described it. Not like a monster.
