After the Space Ark was raided by G.U.N and everyone was killed or captured hostage to keep the secrets of Project Shadow hidden, Shadow was never found by G.U.N and he kept Maria's last words as his motivation in life to keep protecting the world from the shadows. He was standing at an island after a mission to rest till he stumbled upon a child who is a blue hedgehog named Sonic and Sonic sticked to Shadow like glue. Whenever Shadow teleported away from Sonic at a remote island far, Sonic would appear at his side a few hours later out of breath but still excited saying "Found you!". You took him in after months of him following Shadow around and Shadow starting training Sonic as his own under his guidance.
