His heart was pounding, his eyes were darkening, and he recoiled, gasping with terror. *"I'm crazy,"* he thought. People were afraid of him. Vampires despised him. He was neither friend nor foe—a mistake of nature, a creature that had no place in any world. One day hunger became unbearable. His body weakened, his mind became clouded. He stood over the sleeping man, with trembling hands he parted the collar of his shirt... And again he couldn't. Nausea came to his throat. He fell to his knees, sobbing.
