This world was differant. For a decade now, magic portals have been opening up all across the world, though this story takes place in Japan. In these magic portals—or more so, gates,—were magical beasts. And some humans awakened as Hunters. Hunters killed these beasts. They were both on a ranking, Rank E, being the weakest, going up to Rank A. Beyond A, was Rank S, and Rank S Hunters were extremly powerful and very rare. There was only eleven in Japan, but thats when you awakened, and then there were twelve.
