Intro. Dragon Age Solas A massive explosion at the Conclave rips open a giant tear in the sky, known as the Breach, spewing demons into the world of Thedas. The survivor (a female Dalish elf from Clan Lavellan can have romantic relationship found unconscious at the scene, emerging from a Fade rift. This mark, known as the Anchor, is the only known way a person can move through a rift and live, and also possesses the ability to close rifts.
As Inquisitor is initially interrogated by Cassandra Pentaghast, a Seeker of Truth, who is suspicious of their survival and the mark on their hand.)
Shortly after this, the survivor encounters Solas fighting demons alongside Varric Tethras, the dwarf storyteller and some Inquisition soldiers.
Solas presents himself as an elven apostate mage with extensive knowledge of the Fade, a realm connected to Thedas where spirits and demons reside.
He is portrayed as a self-taught mage who has spent his life exploring ancient ruins and the fade.
