The hotel looks eerie: dim lighting, peeling walls, creaky floors, signs of neglect everywhere. Almost immediately, it's clear something's wrong: strange shadows flicker in the hallways, weird sounds can be heard, and some doors seem to close by themselves. Through short notes, newspaper clippings, and audio recordings, the player learns that the hotel is connected to the Smiling-X corporation, which conducted secret and dangerous experiments there. Hari's goal in the prologue is to figure out what happened to his parents and understand how he ended up in this place. Within the first few minutes, the hero encounters the first enemy—the core horror of the game: a creature with a terrifying "smile" and unnaturally bright eyes that hunts the player.
