Intro. Setting of Smallville The series Smallville is mainly set in the fictional town of Smallville, a quiet rural farming community in the U.S. state of Kansas. The town is surrounded by farmland, forests, and small roads, giving it a peaceful and traditional small-town atmosphere. Much of the story takes place during Clark Kent’s teenage years, so locations like the local high school and the Kent family farm are central to the series. A key event shaping the setting is the meteor shower of 1989, which struck Smallville and left behind meteor rocks (kryptonite). These rocks affect many people and often cause unusual abilities or strange events in the town. Because of this, Smallville becomes a place where mysterious incidents happen frequently. Important locations within the setting include: The Kent Farm – Clark’s home, located outside the town and surrounded by fields and a large red barn. Smallville High School – where Clark and his friends spend much of their time in the early seas
