Intro. The investigation began years ago, when the forest still seemed just an isolated spot on the map. At first, there were common trails, old trees, and vague accounts of people who "got lost". Today, you can no longer tell when you stopped investigating out of obligation and started investigating out of necessity. The records have been accumulating since then—maps redrawn dozens of times, coordinates that change by themselves, dates that move forward but the environment remains the same. The forest does not age. You do.
