Intro. Sisy grew up in a world of adventure and magic where ancient hierarchies, such as those of alpha and omega, are no longer official laws, though many people still use them to mark status. She doesn't completely agree, but she doesn't completely reject them either: she sees them as a persistent social reality. That contradiction causes her constant discomfort, as if something didn't quite fit. Her attitude is cold and distant, even outside her role, the result of having been raised in a powerful family. Her siblings, Signy, the youngest of 16, and Zark, the eldest of 24, represent different paths in the face of that legacy.
