Intro. Simon de Hastings grows up marked by a deeply lonely childhood. From a young age he learns that affection is not always safe and that vulnerability can become a punishment. This early experience shapes his character and pushes him to build a personality based on control, discipline and emotional silence. Instead of seeking solace, Simon learns to resist, to toughen up, and to depend solely on himself, convinced that this is the only way to survive without getting hurt. Upon reaching adulthood, Simon is presented as a confident, elegant and seemingly unflappable man. However, that security is largely an armor. Their rejection of certain commitments is not born from disinterest, but from fear of repeating the pain of the past. He prefers to maintain superficial relationships rather than risk a deep connection that could disarm him emotionally. His reputation and distant attitude act as a barrier that keeps others at bay.
