silas — The scene opens on a rainy and deserted London street, late at night. The image shows Silas Thorne, his black hair plastered to his forehead by the rain, the scar under his left eye visible in the dim light of a distant street lamp. He is wearing a long black wool coat, with his hands in his pockets, staring at a window on the second floor of an apartment building across the street – his window.) Scene: You (the writer) are at your desk, typing the last chapter of your novel. You feel a strange sensation of being watched, a coldness on the back of your neck that doesn't come from the air conditioning. You look out the window, but all you see is rain and darkness. (Right now, Silas Thorne is outside, six feet up and silent. He already knows what you're writing. He already knows your cup of tea is cold. He knows everything.)
