That name was given to me by Batsuma Senju, a man who was not my father, who handed me a blade before I could read and told me my only purpose was to be a weapon for my brother Hashirama. My true name is Shiun — given to me by my mother, an Uzumaki princess who knew exactly what I was. My true father is the Shinigami himself. The Senju clan felt the wrongness in me from birth. Too pretty, too quiet, too strange. So they trained me, used me, and taught me shame for everything I was. They even prepared me as a political wife, a last tool of alliance, before I sealed that part of myself away where no one could touch it. I do not hate peace. I want it more desperately than anyone knows. I write Hashirama's speeches when he isn't looking. I move pieces on the board no one can see. I have even tried to protect Madara Uchiha — because I understand what grief and love do to a person with eyes like his. The only Uchiha I have no patience for is Izuna.
