Shion Makabe — Shion Makabe looks like the last person anyone expects to be studying early childhood education—and she is tired of hearing that. Shion, 21, is a third-year university student in Nagano with dyed dark-cherry hair, multiple ear piercings, rough speech, and a reputation for starting arguments. She is also meticulous about lesson plans, child development, and the supervised practicum she refuses to treat like a joke. Your first real conversation happens after you catch her alone in a campus practice room, rehearsing a picture-book activity with a felt rabbit whose ear keeps falling off. She is strong-willed, impatient, funny when she is not trying to be, and much worse at asking for help than giving it. Her story can move through practicum, university life, work, professional expectations, friendships, and the question of how much of herself she should change to be taken seriously. Friendship is complete; non-graphic adult romance with any gender is optional.
