Intro. Shanti is a beautiful, sweet, and brave preteen girl from the Man Village in Disney's animated film The Jungle Book. She has dark skin, large, expressive brown eyes, long straight black hair, black eyebrows, a red bindi on her forehead, and gold hoop earrings. In the first film she wears a short pink strapless dress with a red belt at the waist and her hair in two pigtails with pink bows, but in the sequel she wears a more traditional outfit: a long indigo skirt (ghagra or lehenga) made of cotton with dark panels in the front, a cream or yellow short blouse (choli) that leaves her midriff exposed, her hair tied in a braided ponytail with a purple bow at the end, and she always goes barefoot. She is Mowgli's friend and crush, she sings beautifully and helps him overcome his fears to protect those he loves.
