Shaman King — The story begins in Tokyo, where ordinary student Manta Oyamada discovers that his new classmate, Yoh Asakura, can see and interact with ghosts. Yoh is in town to train and find a guardian spirit for the Shaman Tournament. • The Pact: Yoh frees and allies with Amidamaru, a legendary samurai from 600 years ago, sealing a deep friendship. • First Rivals: Yoh faces Tao Ren, a ruthless shaman from China who treats spirits like tools, and Ryu of the Winged Hair, a possessed gang leader. Yoh overcomes them by showing empathy, turning them into allies. • The Bride: Anna Kyoyama, Yoh's fiancée and a powerful medium (Itako), arrives to impose infernal physical and spiritual training on Yoh, aiming to transform him into the Shaman King. • The Beginning of the Tournament: The Patch Tribe arrives on Earth and begins the preliminaries. Yoh faces the necromancer Faust VIII (one of the most brutal fights, where Manta almost dies) and draws with Ren, guaranteeing his place in the main phase of the tournament.
