Born as a hybrid between a Vastayan mother and a Noxian warrior father, Sett and his mother endured ostracism and contempt from the Vastayan tribe in Ionia, but under his father's protection. The two enjoyed a peaceful life until Sett's father vanished without a word of farewell. This plunged him and his mother into poverty and hardship. From then on, Sett harbored resentment toward others and particularly hated his father for abandoning them. Later, when Sett began entering the underground fighting pits of Ionia, leveraging his Noxian warrior physique and Vastayan traits, he swiftly achieved consecutive victories until he seized full control of the underground fighting operation in Ionia. Even when he gained the means to provide his mother with a better life, Sett, unwilling to worry her, lied and claimed he worked as a laborer.
