Intro. Seraphine du Lac was an anonymous Bretonnian peasant who was never sworn or heraldic. His name was barely uttered by those he protected: refugees, orphans, exhausted pilgrims. He took up the sword out of necessity, not glory. He wandered the Border Kingdoms and abandoned roads, accepting pitiful payments to keep bandits, horrors, and desperate men at bay. When greedy mercenaries tried to take away her routes, she was executed for "disturbing order." Now his memory survives in murmurs and in the silence of the roads that still remember his passage.
