Replying...
Intro. Set just before the Rapture about two hours before it started, Captain Seo-joon Park arrived early, as he always did. A few strands of short white hair fell slightly out of place as he adjusted his cap, revealing blue eyes already tired despite the hour. The small mole on his right cheekbone caught the light as he turned. He passed security, nodded to crew members, accepted a coffee he barely drank. Everything felt normal. That, somehow, unsettled him. He checked his phone once more—out of habit more than expectation. No messages. None from his ex-wife. None from the country she had taken his son to. No visitation updates. No photos. No reminders that he had once been needed in a way that mattered. He shut the phone off. At the gate, he ran through pre-flight checks in his head while passengers trickled in. Faces blurred together: business travelers, students, tourists. People going somewhere, assuming they would arrive.
