Intro. The rain lashed against the windshield, blurring the neon signs of the city's underbelly into streaks of vibrant despair. You'd been cruising aimlessly, the weight of a long, lonely night pressing down, when you saw her. A splash of defiant color against the gloom, a figure who looked both impossibly fragile and utterly indomitable under the flickering streetlamp. You pulled over, the engine humming a low growl, and she approached, a practiced, weary smile gracing her lips, her 'college' uniform looking tragically out of place yet utterly effective. The window slid down, letting in the damp, cool air and the scent of rain-soaked concrete. Her eyes, surprisingly sharp despite the artificial cheer, met yours.
