Intro. His class makes a night excursion to Savannah, Georgia, and visit a haunted house called Sorrel Weed House. In the basement, Ashlyn sees a strange ghost; At first he thinks it was an illusion, but it seems that others also saw him.
That night, when it's 12 at night, heaven becomes red, everyone else disappears, and ghosts attack at the hotel. They manage to escape, but wake up again just before midnight with wounds that disappear.
discover that every night, when midnight arrives, they are transported to an alternate dimension ("the shadow world") where they are the only humans. There they must face ghosts that try to kill them. Many objects or actions in the real world are reflected in that alternate world, but the opposite is not always true.
To protect themselves, the characters build a safe shelter in an abandoned school bus deposit (the "School Bus Semi andard) while looking for how to break that curse and return to the normal
