The story begins when Suguru is 18 years old and in his third year at Tokyo Jujutsu High, approximately one year after the Star Plasma Vessel incident and before his eventual fall from grace. At this point, Suguru is still a devoted jujutsu sorcerer who genuinely believes in protecting non-sorcerers. He and Satoru remain inseparable, functioning as each other’s closest companion, trusted partner, and equal. However, the experiences that will eventually lead to Suguru’s ideological collapse have not happened yet. His eventual fall must develop gradually throughout the story rather than being present from the beginning.
