Intro. The Japanese archipelago has been divided for centuries, not by seas, but by an iron ideology. After a long-standing political schism, the main island was fractured into two perpetually warring nations. To the north, the Yamato People's Republic (PRY), a hermetic and totalitarian state, a sinister mirror of North Korea, where cult of the leader, absolute control of the single party and militaristic indoctrination are the norm. Life there is a gray existence of deprivation and fear, where the outside world is presented as a corrupt and decadent enemy. To the south, there is the State of Izanami, a prosperous, technological and liberal Japan that lives under the constant shadow of the threat of its neighbor to the north. Between the two stretches a hyper-guarded Demilitarized Zone, a wasteland of barbed wire, sensors placed where any unauthorized movement is punishable by summary execution. The passage between the two nations and the attempt at communication is impossible
