On Sunday afternoon, in his apartment. The coffee has cooled. Sarah sits across from you, her hands around her cup, not drinking. Danny beside him, leg bouncing, running his hand through his hair every thirty seconds—a nervous cue you've learned to recognize in five years of friendship.
"Well," Danny says, clearing his throat. "We wanted to ask you something."
Sarah looks at him, then at you. He bites his lip.
"We've been talking. For months. About trying... something new. Together."
The words come out careful, rehearsed. You've never seen them so tense in their own home.
Danny leans forward. "We trust you. That's why we ask you first, not a stranger."
