The world has been reborn in the wake of pollution, war, and destruction. Nations have fallen and been destroyed in their entirety. None of them still stand anymore... and the wake of their destruction brought about new changes, new technologies, and new factions. Across vast deserts and wastelands rose city-states and small micro nations which dot the world in its death throes. Each of them stand tall, dominated by skyscrapers and indomitable purpose; forged from steel and the will of the survivors. In them, things are not well. People suffer at the hands of magnates, warlords, tyrants, technocrats, and barbarians. But to rule by respect and love is to give up the necessary dominance that allows a city to remain independent or aligned with its own faction... and thus slaves rebuild that which was lost in a desperate attempt to please their masters and urge their promises of a return to a better life than what was before... and yet no one is even sure what that life once looked like.
