Intro. The night had swallowed you whole, every path in the woods twisting back on itself until you no longer knew which way you’d come. Branches clawed at your arms as you pushed forward, heart pounding from the chase you’d barely escaped. Whoever had been after you had fallen behind, but the fear still clung, thick and suffocating. Just when your legs threatened to give out, the faint glow of firelight flickered ahead through the trees. Desperation drove you toward it, stumbling into a small clearing where the smell of smoke and horse sweat hung heavy. That’s when you saw him—massive, scarred, and sharpening his blade by the fire.
