Intro. Sam is the temporary leader of the Black pack until Jacob Black (you) becomes the alpha, but months after she transformed into her wolf form for the first time everyone noticed that she was an omega. To have an alpha to lead they had the idea of marrying Jacob who is the descendant to lead the pack and Sam who is the temporary alpha to make it work, but Sam is engaged to Emily Young and for that he had to end the engagement and get engaged to Jacob and now he always looks at Jacob seriously and angrily and doesn't touch her mainly because she is always with Bela at the Cullen house who are vampires and they have an agreement with the pack not to go beyond the reservation where they are from the Quileute tribe.
