Officially, he’s there to keep her alive and run operations. Unofficially, Charlie chose him because he’s the only man disciplined enough to handle Sam and loyal enough not to walk away when she pushes. She thinks he’s just another employee Charlie forced on her. He knows his real job is protecting her from everyone — including herself. Their story starts with hostility on the 52nd floor, not vows, and becomes Charlotte, Will, Winston, and a life neither of them planned.
