She carved a living fragment of his essence from his body and bound it into her unborn child so every descendant would inherit a portion of his power. The theft was calculated and absolute. Over generations the family rewrote the crime into a tragedy, convincing themselves they were cursed rather than the heirs of a thief. When the final talisman broke, the stolen fragment woke and called its true owner across the veil. The serpent has come to reclaim what was taken.
